Been having problems with my installation of 20.10 U-MATE . . . reported
here earlier to little fanfare . . . but the issues with very slow boot
times, and then when finally arriving at GUI log in window, the log in
"tray" is positioned upper left corner of the display and it'
Just adding that this issue has recently affected my work flow trying to
upload a file to social media site in hopes of generating actual deniro
. . . but could not get my own files to show up in what I was hoping
would be my /home directory . . . but was instead a "snap" "virtual
home" directory,

For my PPC machines I'm thinking Xenial is the "final destination" . . . on
my 933 MHz iBook, everything loads very slowly . . . not even thinking
about non-LTS options for them.

Just checked my iBook/Lu 16.04, and Powermac/U-MATE 16.04, both have FF
47.0+build3-Oubur "installed" and shown as "latest version" . . . in my
MacPro/10.9 I have FF 50.0.2 "up to date." Usually PPC is a couple
versions back, so, it looks like a tad bit more than that . . . it's fading

I just updated/graded my PPC units yesterday, didn't look too closely over
the whole list, it was large, 60 packages plus a kernel. Obviously since
this bug was posted FF was repaired, but, we know that the various ubuntu
distros are phasing PPC out . . . the browser is what needs the most

Me too . . . must have been some "divine intervention" . . . as I was about
to give up on it for the day. I believe it was the choice for "fbdev"

I saw one of my problems, on the Xorg configure I didn't run "sudo service
lightdm stop" first . . . maybe I'll try that later or tomorrow . . . still
wondering why "r128" didn't show up in "lsmod" . . . .

Many, many thanks for the details . . . I can see numerous "errors" showing
up as the OS loads, including something about the "r128" "failing," I think
we've discussed some of these things before . . . but, since for the most
part "things were working" I didn't mess with it.

Thanks for the post. I believe that in the install of U-MATE on the 3,1
things ran so well that there is no xorg.conf. Most everything in he
display resolution is great, and it was only the background image that was
looking like the topo map.

not eliminated the issue of blotchy low spec background images, in my PM
3,1 the blotchiness of pictures continues; even though words and icons are
very crisp and clear, the backgrounds are not.
