I'm running Ubuntu 22.10, and getting the same problem:
$ /snap/bin/firefox

Couldn't load XPCOM.

I can confirm this. My upgrade path was xenial -> zesty -> artful and I
had to run "touch /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally
Xenial is receiving network-manager-applet 1.2.6, the SRU is being
tracked in bug 1619354
