I am also having these difficulties. The Streamrecorder extension kept
freezing/crashing Banshee immediately after startup. The workaround
given in #6 will help you disable problematic plugins. Edit

The same issue now happens for me on 13.04 with the latest updates. It
did not happen on 12.10. This is clearly an AppArmor-related problem, as
switching AppArmor to "complain" mode seems to fix things. To do so,
sudo apt-get install apparmor-utils

The same bug occurs for me using the linux-image-generic kernel version
3.5.0-26. I experience frequent apport error messages (I had to turn it
off), degraded performance, and GPU hangs which necessitate a reboot. I
