I have made an interesting observation. I only see this problem on my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 1st Gen, but not with the X1 Carbon 2nd and 3rd Gen. I have all three and they are all running Ubunity 16.04 x64. So maybe this depends on the version of the wi-fi hardware? All these laptops have Intel
