@Tom: could you create a branch implementing your patch and propose for
merging to fix bug #994491, which reports the uppercase problem?

@P G Lagasse: could you open a separate bug for the subfolder issue? I
don't know if it's a regression or the intended (new) behavior, but I
was puzzled by that too.

I can confirm the reports of #16 and #17: settings are not applied when
the opened file is in /tmp. I am on ubuntu 12.04 with evince 3.4.0.
I tried dumping the output of gsettings before and after selecting 'Edit

I can now confirm that "Save link as" does not allow saving such files.
However, "Save page as" allows me to rename the file so that it starts
with a dot.

Thank you for reporting this bug. Could you specify which version of
firefox and ubuntu are you using? I cannot reproduce this bug in ubuntu

rename it so as to start with a dot, the file is correctly saved with

OK, this is the intended behavior (not that I like it very much), see

Have you tried disabling all extensions? If that fixes the problem, try
re-enabling them one by one until you find the culprit ;-)

I realized that the original report was about messages *from empathy*
not turning the icon blue - not from thunderbird. The discussion somehow
drifted to thunderbird notifications.
Luca: could you please confirm that the original problem concerned
empathy messages? Otherwise this should be marked
Nishant: could you please check if workaround mentioned in bug #841116
comment 7 fixes the problem for you? If this is the case this bug should
be marked as a duplicate of bug #957922, which is in progress.

I can reproduce this bug in Precise: I can't set the status to Available
from Offline using the MessagingMenu. Funnily enough, changing the
status to Away works, then I can switch to any status. At least there is
a workaround. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I am running

The workaround works fine in Precise, the version of the Messaging Menu

Title:
no color change when new messages
According to the specifications of the messaging menu
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MessagingMenu), the enveloppe icon should
eventually mark emails and chat messages in different ways (blue or
blue+small bubble). Therefore the issue mentioned in comment 9 is less
critical than one may think. Personally
If you find that the envelope does not turn blue for all messages but
only occasionally, this is probably not a bug but a feature, see Bug
#957922 and #841116. Thunderbird now uses some algorithm to decide which
(supposedly important) emails should turn the icon blue and which not,
