The font I attached below is SGI Screen font by Nicholas Riley
(http://njr.sabi.net/2015/11/01/sgi-screen-fonts-converted-for-os-x/).
Fontconfig is able to query it (fc-query fontfile) but after copying to
appropriate directory and call fc-list, the font name does not show up
I have written my finding which might be relevant this bug:

It is on Debian 8 "Jessie" though, but it should be close to Ubuntu
14.04+ right?
I hope this bug can be resolved soon since it has been open for so long

It is also happening on Unity, even if you set screen settings from AMD
Catalyst (I have an AMD card), until you make changes from Gnome Control Center
and save them. After that problems are "almost" fixed.
"Almost" means that before the login process everything is still messe
I had the same problem and saki's solution worked for me also. Thanks!

... well NM still have some problems each 10th suspend/resume cycle, but I
found it hard to reproduce and I don't think it is related to this.

settings.

I was able to replicate this error using the latest Ubuntu 11.10 version

i removed the ~/.config/dconf/ folder and log in back again and the
mouse was working... not sure what dconf property was messing with the
mouse

It looks like there is a problem with gnome settings.
The touchpad is working in the Login windows, but stops working after
the gnome session is started.
I looked at mouse and touchpad settings and touchpad is enabled.
