Actually, a correction. Evolution starts fine but if I go to type an
email (or reply) the editor window is blank. Closing the new or reply
message window THEN crashes Evolution.

Going into gnome-control-center -> Keyboard, I see that 'Alternate

handle private IP space, and now, looking into this further it does look
like the network-manager is ignoring the dns= specified in the system-
connections (set via the network manager settings gui).
