HP Pavillion desktop 2015 ufei date. Never turned off because boot takes too
long.
Screens (2) turned off system left on when not in use.
Up to Ubuntu 19 and early versions of 20 both screens came back on.

The login screen always exists separately on VT1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1) to your
desktop on VT2 (Ctrl+Alt+F2). And the desktop is not meant to lock
immediately. It should do after some period of time, but won't "if you
were listening a web radio on Firefox" b
Obviously GRUB and YouTube shouldn't be sharing the same screen. That
looks like a driver/browser chroma-key bug. What browser were you using?
I'm also not totally confident that's even the main issue you were
describing. If it's not then please be sure to open a second bug about
the other issue.

This is the same reason why the icons appear to animate in on Ubuntu
21.04, because it's a mostly-transparent window being animated as if it
was a regular app launching.

Confirmed. It's because desktop-icons-ng is actually an application
window. There are custom hacks in mutter to make it look like a desktop
window. Only Xorg sessions have proper native support for desktop
windows. So it looks like those custom hacks in mutter (and maybe gnome-
shell) need some wor

Yes Ubuntu and GNOME sessions are really the same thing, just with
different themes.
My only suggestion would be to finish testing:
sudo apt install unity-session
sudo apt install xfce4-session
sudo apt install cinnamon-session
so that we can rule in or out 'mutter' being the cause here, o

It is intentional that the screen lock is inhibited (temporarily
disabled) when watching a video. That may happen if you're listening to
music too, and is probably intentional.
It sounds like you are requesting that your screen automatically lock
when you switch to a virtual terminal.

Going to System Settings > Input Devices > Keyboard > Advanced > Swap
ESC and Caps Lock is a piece of cake.
Then going to System Settings > Input Devices > Mouse there is nothing for
