Worked around the problem by:
0. Use "Esc" key to interrupt boot, edit boot to remove "quiet splash" from
boot line, then boot.
1. Replace "quiet splash" with "" in /etc/default/grub
2. Run "sudo update-grub".

Have the same issue FWIW. Even many apps that ship with Ubuntu can't be
clicked anymore. If nothing else perhaps keying of 'interpreter' would
be more reasonable as none of the shared libraries I've checked have
one.

@rot13: Ah, that's unfortunate...
Can you post this as a new bug report? It's a problem on the Inkscape
side of the ppa / build process, and not a downstream packaging problem
(and also add this info: for Ubuntu 16.04, libpoppler58 is available,
while 61 is not, so hopefully it is not exchanged, b
Hey David,
Since the upstream issue (as linked in bug #1589401) seems to be stuck and
their last request was to test a clean nm-applet build without Ubuntu patches -
I have prepared such in a ppa:dgadomski/nm-applet.
It's basically a Xenial build with the patches disabled.

Silo 2140 as mentioned will give you a way to reproduce this. I am

session.

This issue actually appears to be a regression:

I'm reluctant to mark the bug as duplicate, though, since the other
issue is version-specific and marked as closed.

Hello,
Just found this discussion. We just released 4.2.0, sorry it took a while,
difficult times.
I hope the delay didn't cause you guys too much trouble.
The patch to use dynamic ports in the test looks very interesting, it's
something I wanted to fix for a while but never had to the time, so
