My desktop works well this morning (Dell 8900, Ubuntu 15.04), but after
I changed the display driver from Nvidia to another one. Then after
restart, I cannot get to the log-in interface, the screen is stopped and
giving the following information,

TBH it'd be better to entirely drop it, at least out of main. This
ancient non-GI version of pygobject has been unmaintained and dead at
least since 2011. It's not on the desktop images any more, but
apparently still a build dependency of e. g. dbus and others.

lid, I'll see the entire boot process on the large monitor; however,
when lightdm fires up, it displays the login widgetry on the (closed)

rate there, but if I reboot, it returns to the auto mode (which chooses
60Hz over 144Hz).

up data (timestamps, "past duration", whatever).
