For the record, systemd actually checks for "docked/undocked" events, so
in a VT you should not actually get this behaviour. Only under Unity,
because unity-settings-daemon doesn't seem to check for dock events in
particular but just checks the connected monitors. Can you confirm this?

unfortunatelly it's not a bios problem. I updated it to last version and
problem persist. As I mentioned before, it looks like kernel problem for
me.
So, after bios update message remained the same.

Indeed, adding "export LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8" to "~/.profile" worked. It seems
that the combination
of sudo locale-gen pt_BR.UTF-8 and that works nicely and that it is a nice
workaround.
I don't understand yet exactly how this can become a defintive solution

Unfortunately it has no influence on the touchpad behaviour. The errors
showing up are still like the ones logged in
XorgLog.txt/xserver.errors.txt

I confirm this bug, although repaired in previous versions of Ubuntu, is
back again in Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid.

Aaron Honeycutt, sierdzio - this is differnt bug, you need "nomodeset" option
in kernel options.
As a workaround in grub press "e" and add nomodeset in the line when "splash"
is. Then hit F10 to boot - should work.
You can add this option in /etc/default/grub to make it default.

For clarity I am not actually using a dock, I just have the external
monitor plugged in to the laptop, and it does not suspend when I close

I am pretty sure that a couple of years ago the gnome guys decided that the
laptop should not suspend if an external monitor is plugged in (which was a
change to the previous strategy). I think that by popular request this was
reverted back to suspend (possibly only in Ubuntu, I don't know). I

I tried to get a backtrace via SSH, but no luck. I can start the gdb
session and attach to the Xorg process, but the moment the bug occurs
(screen freeze), I can't send any signals through my SSH session either.
A few times I had to do a hard-reset because Magic SysReq was not
