1. Minimizing firefox freezes the screen.

I have this problem after upgrading from 12.04LTS to 14.04LTS. Will a

purging the entire CUPS installation/configuration and reinstalling it

100% cpu for some time (I heard the fan go loud) and only one shell
window was open. Last I did was "git pull". Soon as I closed the shell
window, the cpu and fan went back to normal..

Referring to my post above...
I confused one for another , I actually had to enter a TIMED shutdown command
to reboot my system while testing the display switch-on/off because the system
was running but not responding my inputs at all after my screen was going off.
