Yes, I confirm this to be an issue with swapping. Disabling swap
resolves the issue of garbled graphics at the memory peak level. If
you're running a computer with enough ram, the swap partition can
permanently be disabled by adding "swapoff -a" to "/etc/rc.local"
This is merely just a workaround.
That may be right. I use kdevelop/kate extensively and they definitely show
the problem. I thought that I had seen it happen with Firefox though, but I
am not certain. What's the bug id for the known qt problem? I
searched before submitting a bug report and nothing turned up.

I have added an attachment with the output from "cat /proc/cpuinfo".
I have not been able to find a core dump file after running "chromium-
browser" from the command line. I ran "sudo find -name core.*" at the
root directory, but did not find anything that seemed to be associated
with Chromium. I
Audio volume is now set at a proper volume for voice calls.
