Yikes, I just noticed after clicking in the upper right dropdowns, then
clicking in the password and entering password, it worked, and what I'd

I finally upgraded to 14.04; same exact issue.
One coincidence I noticed and am looking into is that I didn't notice
any stuttering when only 64 bit code was running, but when flash or
steam were running (both of which run some 32 bit code, if I'm not
mistaken), the stuttering began immediately.

Abhijit, you're right scrolling in Chrome "only" uses around 40% or so.
I noticed it doesn't have smooth scrolling enabled. After disabling
smooth scrolling in Firefox (general.smoothScroll in about:config), CPU

This might be a situation that doesn't happen a lot but... My computer
is currently on a hard drive and is booting on different computers. Thus
the audio hardware changes between boots and this might have confused
pulseaudio regarding rythembox.
