cable, no HDMI involved. I haven't tried hooking up an external monitor
with stock Quantal, but with the xorg-edgers PPA, I have found no

Actually the problem was that /usr/lib/thunderbird/extensions was a real
directory on this system instead of a soft link to ../thunderbird-
addons/extensions .
Removing the thunderbird package and reinstalling it fixed the issue.
So something goes wrong in the upgrade path.

This is basically a duplicate of bug 1093938.
The symbolic icons are used throughout gnome-control-center. You can
find a list by running rgrep 'symbolic"' in the gnome-control-center
source tree.
A different theme should be able to simply provide those icons. For
those reasons, I'm closing this
Sorry, gnome-panel does need gnome-icon-theme-symbolic for the upstream
user menu. You are correct that gnome-panel in Ubuntu currently ships
the "indicator" status menus like Unity instead of the user menu but it
is still available for people to use.
A different theme can provide alternative icon
User-installed Eclipse plugins are kept in a version-dependent directory
( $HOME/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform__/plugins ) and hence
not carried over on upgrade. Furthermore, 12.10 does not include the
main Eclipse site as a plugin source by default (earlier Ubuntu versions

You're experiencing this bug in Ubuntu 12.10 because you upgraded to
Nautilus 3.6 probably with the GNOME3 PPA.
This feature has been intentionally removed by the Nautilus developers
so you'll need to file a bug there if you have reasons why it should not

I have the same error when configuring mono-gac via apt-get.
Added interesting parts of my apport report because vince's report has
no (useful) information in dpkgterminallog (see bug #1049223).
