If you set this Invalid, it will take a long time before the issues are
fixed.
Please, have you filed a bug upstream so that the NM developers can look
into this? If so, could you comment here with a link to it so that we
can go through other channels to get it to their attention?
Thanks!

Triaged/Wishlist, it's mostly just a matter of someone spending some
time to implement this in NM.
As a workaround, you might be able to save the "Auto" device created,
keep it Autoconnect but in Routes check "Use this device only for the
resources on its network", so that it won't get the default
This bug is wishlist in terms of making VPN connections reconnect and
possibly for future work in having connections with dependencies (e.g.
taking care of automatically pulling in a VPN on an untrusted network).
** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #349151

In 12.10; it's going to be a similar key, but in gsettings instead
(since everything is migrating to there)

We don't show the applet window in the menu anymore, so AFAIK this bug
is Fix Released -- if there is any other mention of NetworkManager
somewhere (because the name won't change-- you can't show spaces
reliably in a package name and other such places); then a bug should be
filed for that particula
