I'm experiencing this issue myself often on two different machines. I
haven't noticed a pattern, but when reading the reports and looking at
my taskbar, I notice that there is no network-manager icon (there should
always be one, no?) but two volume controls, one of which is working.

The bug doesn't always appear as I describe in my last comment. I have also
observed that the logout button (which is to the far right) is doubled or not
working. There may be other mess-ups I don't recall right now.

I don't recall what I did to provoke this crash. And maybe it's not
reproducible after all. On top of that I've switched back to Thunderbird
a while ago.
