Description:
When ejecting my dvd+rw, Ubuntu/Nautilus displays a dialog that I should
wait while it writes data to my dvd. This happens while I did not modif

A client of mine has a network with a Debian Sarge server and a few
Ubuntu Dapper clients. The Sarge server runs slapd, and I've set up the
clients to use pam_ldap.so and libnss-ldap.so to keep usernames
centrally located. Also, /home is now NFS-mount
fs-common installed ?
Sure, there are other shares open.
Like I said, it is doing a select() on a socket connected to the LDAP
server right after writing something to that socket. I don't see how
this could be related to NFS?

Yes, you wait. But you wait shorter in total than when they are copied
simultaneously, like happens now. And the usual case would be like
described in the original report: dragging a collection of photos
somewhere, and the some more photos and suddenly the copying becomes
really slow. In this case
the package that failed to install has nothing to do with last.fm.
However the last.fm plugin is installed by default, you don;t need to
install anything for that.

The cursor speed of the touchpad on my laptop (thinkpad sl300) is really
slow. It takes about four sweeps across the touchpad to get to the other
side of the screen. There is no way to change the touchpad sensitivity
in the current mo

tab.
