It is the first time I am recording this so I'm not sure it contains all that

What I did while recording the bakctrace was:
-Click on "new message"
-The new message window appears instantly
-Wait for 30s whiie I can
In fact, everyhting comes back to normal after the 30s freeze.
So I exited evolution after the 30s freeze so that gdb will close as well.

This affects me as well.
After crashing my laptop this morning, I let evolution, pidging and
evolution-data-server run all day at by 5pm, evolution-data-server was using a
total of 1.9GB of memory (swap + resident combined)
evolution was using about 600MB too if I recall correctly, with very ligh
I don't use Gnome any more, I have lost interest in it over time (now
using XFCE), lets just close this bug and call it done Ubuntu
doesn't even use Gnome any more anyway, so I doubt they care the
slightest about such a minor issue.

The problem was linked to a problem in package gnome-keyring.
I solved my problem by downgrading gnome-keyring from "2.30.1-0ubuntu2"
to "2.30.0-0ubuntu3".
Downgrading gnome-keyring also solved some problems with network-manager
(also freezing) and empathy (unaccessible accounts).

Yes, the patch to reduce CPU resources was not successful in my case
(uses 50% CPU then slowly progresses up to 100%, over a period of on
eminute or so), but a nice side effect is that the graphs now scroll
smoothly, cool ! :-)

Pressing the "zoom fit" button on the toolbar shrinks down large images

For many years now I use "GQview" to view all my pictures, and it does
this (that's why I expected eog to behave the same).

I have no file in the /var/crash directory.
The only trace I could find, except the 3 attached files previously
sent, is a series of logs in the /var/log directory, in message,
kern.log and syslog. As the bug occurs very often, I have a series of
similar logs at different times, looking like this
