It seems developers are ignoring this bug even when weather and
temperature features are put into it.

I respectfully disagree. That roadmap only states "when Panel size
changes," and that has nothing to do with this bug. This bug (probably)
has more to do with the fact that applets have variable widths and are
configured to specific locations that cause massive confusion in the
panel rendering if y
In Gnome, I find that you are forced to run with "Show date" unchecked.
The change of date makes this bug more severe than it must seem to
upstream (whose default is unchecked IIRC rather than checked in
Ubuntu).

If you use a non-monospace font for the system (which is the standard)
after the clock changes in any significant way, it will drift further
and further to the left. It may correct itself over time, but that space
becomes an eyesore.

I've noticed that these plugins are not selectable in the

At first glance, this would appear to be a fault of the am

the left, applets move around randomly unless you manually move them.
Manually moving applets on the right does *not* fix them.

GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in
some situations
On my system, I have the Notification Area, the Volume Applet, the
System Monitor, the Clock, and the Workspace Switcher on the right side
of my panel going left to right. The Notification Area and the Clock
change width from time to time, so perhaps that's what is causing this
trouble.

Items on the right side of the panel move themselves back to flush up
against each other if you change the Orientation. Is this another bug?
