The problem there is that, as a folder cannot be an attachment, Nautilus first compresses it to a zip file, which it creates in /tmp, to which a snap doesn't have access. The fact that you can attach the a file in /tmp from Thunderbird is because it uses the portal to do so. This is not a regress
