The final dapper release doesn't have this problem. I booted from it and
installed it on my laptop and everything looks ok.

On IBM Thinkpad T40 ubuntu dapper beta 2 live cd freezes as it is about
to launch gnome. Kubuntu boots up without any trouble. The same was true
The same happens with Flight 7. I can't believe the bug is still
unconfirmed. Has anybody tried booting a thinkpad T40 with a recent
dapper live cd?
