In Jaunty there is no sound notification anymore (regression).
It is still possible to tick the plug-in in preferences, but it just doesn't
work.

Sound
This is a static situation.
To reproduce:
Start xchat-gnome open preferences->scripts and plugins-> notification sounds.
(these may be called differently as I have a dutch install)
Then enter a few words that should be highlighted when mentioned in a
conversation in the section preferences.
Now
I noticed that as long as I use the standard theme and I see to it that
the background image has the same resolution as the screen has, the bug
does not occur.

notifications for Empathy don't work here.

I have a Intel gma 950 and the same problem here: screen dims to almost black
and then it pops back up with regular background.
It is now june 27 2008 and i have all updates installed.
I am sure it worked after I installed Hardy so it must have broken along the
way somewhere with updates. Though

I may have found a workaround??
I found that if in the CompizConfig settings manager under General Options I
unmarked the option " Unredirect fullscreen windows"
The flashing does not happen anymore
