This is a papercut / quality of life issue that's really annoying me.
On other file managers, if you set an .sh file as executable, it will
offer to do something. With Ubuntu + Nautilus, it always by default just
opens it in a text editor. This is really annoying and frankly

Same issue here, had it for a long time. Can also confirm that "killall
nautilus" solves it. Still an issue on Ubuntu 16.10.

For such an irritating bug, could we at least get it in the current
release? 15.10, it would be really nice to have it go away.
Is there a reason it's not hitting 15.10?

It also happens to me.
I've noticed the exact same thing as the above. It will either kill
nautilus, or the second try tell me it can only be deleted, and not put
in the trash.
It also happens to Nemo.
So, it's not a bug in either of them, but the system underneath?

On Ubuntu 16.04 it was fixed, and now it's back again. Extremely
irritating.

If you have the xchat-indicator installed (running xchat in Unity) and
close X-Chat (minimize to tray), it will show a little arrow next to the
x-chat icon to indicate its running in the message menu, but when you
click the icon it doesn't resume it opens an entirely new xchat
I also have this issue with both 32 and 64bit Ubuntu and happens on
every login.
The purple background + mouse cursor loads up and you seem to have to
just sit their and wait until the panels and your actual desktop loads
up - seems like such an obvious thing to slip through bug testing.
