Sounds fair.

I do not see the bug on my system.
Karmic 64 bit. I do use kernel.org kernels.

Please see the comments I posted to Bug #199040.
I have not been able to burn dvd's since the upgrade to hardy. I have
two ubuntu machines both of which burned dvd's before the upgrade
without any troubles.
With the 32 bit machine I can format, but even this fails with the 64.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Hey I tried rollbacks earlier, (bug #199040),but they didn't consistently work.
After a few reboots it stopped working. When it worked, a dvd would
mount as /dev/cdrom instead of /dev/cdrom.
Also the roll backs did not work on my 64bit laptop.

I upgraded to hardy recently.
I have burned rewritable dvd-rw's for my dvd/avi player successfully
with growisofs -Z /dev/cdrom -J -R temp.avi
I had troubles yesterday. I rollbacked growisofs to feisty and then to
edgy which uses a different underlying command. The new one is a front
end for gen
While the desktop was able to burn dvd's after a bit the laptop, which has a 64
bit os cannot.
I tried with the dvd+rw-tools from hardy, and I also tried forcing earlier
versions [edgy] without luck.
Using the hardy version on dvd+rw tools I get:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dvd+rw-format -force /dev/c
I recently upgraded to hardy and can no longer mount the ipod.
I also had a problem also with burning dvd+rw's where the dvd was
mounted as cdrom1 instead of cdrom, I don't know if this is related.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dmemsg | tail
bash: dmemsg: command not found
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dmesg | tai
Perhaps I posted to quickly there. I rebooted and the ipod mounted.
In the last few versions of ubuntu I don't recall having troubles mounting the
ipod.

I said from the start this was a problem with dvd+rw-tools. I don't
agree that this is low importance.
It's been months and I cannot burn cd's dvd's?
Can this not be sent to the right person group?

Perhaps Ubuntu needs a triage nurse. I suspect if the right developer
or group or group would fix this quickly.
I did manage to get it working with various roll backs months ago but
not consistently. I suspected that if the dvd mounted as crom it
worked fine but if it mounted as crom0 it did not.
I believe the concern was with the bug being categorized as low
priority. Is it possible to up the priority?

Hey Sebastien,
I appreciate the effort you all put it and appreciate that the OS is
free.
Thanks!

I wanted to mention that I had this problem after upgrading. I did not
do a fresh install.
I have been upgrading since edgy on this machine and dapper on the other.
As I mentioned earlier, I think it has to do with the way, location,
the dvd drive mounts.
