The bug doesn't appear to be limited to Samba bookmarks. Bookmarks
pointing to unavailable FTP and SFTP services also cause nautilus to
crash.

I've a similar problem with exactly the same symptoms. In my case it was
a 26mb MySQL dump with some extremely long lines that appeared to be
typed over each other. On top of that, gedit is painfully slow in
dealing with large text files. Sometimes taking minutes to respond to
input.

Thank you @christian. I marked the Xenial test cases under this same
bug, though can open a new bug and update the hint bug references if
needed. I'll check back to see when/if ddstreet/rbalint have a chance to
review.
