If you're looking for an easy workaround, then I'll present you with
one: use two floating top panels, one for the menubar, and other stuff
you have on the left, and one for clock, session menus, notifiers and
other things you have on the right. As your resolution changes back and
forth, the panels
In Lucid, birthdays are cropped when the names are too long and also
seem to widen the clock applet, which causes parts of it to go outside
of the screen when the clock applet is in the default location on the
panel.
In Maverick, birthdays doesn't seem to be displayed in the clock applet
at all, w
Thank you for bringing that typo to my attention.

Public bug reported:
When Palimpsest complains about a disk, people get nervous and they ask
more knowledgeable people for help. In those cases, it would be very
helpful if it had a way to print out the SMART data as plain text
instead of only providing it in a TreeView. Perhaps, if pastebinit is
I have no session menu at all after upgrading to Jammy today. Is this
the right bug report for it, or should I open a new one? It wasn't
entirely clear to me from the description.

I'm having a similar issue on a 1366x768 screen. The lower part of the
window falls outside the screen, and when I click to close the window,
it jumps up and hides the titlebar, so I have to use keyboard shortcut
to close it. Very annoying.

What do you mean by gnome 3? GNOME 2.29? Has upstream really changed
this? I find that hard to believe. We should absolutely not change that
behaviour, and particularly not now.
I don't understand the desire for a "Windows Mode" in Ubuntu.

I agree. If it was just alarm-clock, it'd been ok. It's not a critical
application, and it's not supported. But it isn't just alarm-clock. This
also happens if you try to strace something in gnome-terminal at least.
Other things cause this to happen as well. I think this bug should've

I absolutely agree with Vincenzo. This bug has been bothering me for
years, it seems, but how often have I changed resolution for my screen?
Seldom. So I haven't really made a big deal out of it. Now, however,
with the new netbook, the answer is: 4-5 times every day. That's
something else entirely.
I'll take it to bugzilla. I still think this bug should have a high
priority here though. Just to clarify; you're right, people wouldn't
trust Ubuntu just because the applets stayed at the same places.
However, trust and distrust are two very different things. Distrust
