I'm getting a similar error, but pidgin crashes immediately after trying to run
it, see the attached pidgin-crash.txt
It however doesn't crash when I run it with Valgrind as asked for above

The problem exists in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala too. At least after I log
in I get an error message about OAFIID:Deskbar_Applet.

I believe this issue was closed too soon. I am running hardy and I
encounter this problem from time to time - I haven't noticed any
regularity except that the last few days it keeps happening all the time
so that's why I finally ended up here after googling about it.

Ubuntu 8.04.

Alt+Tab stopped working in Gnome Shell after I upgraded to 13.10 today.
When I press Alt+Tab the application switcher comes up but I can't cycle
through it after pressing Tab again. So this way I can switch only
between two applications there and back.

I'm experiencing this bug on my T420 without Optimus. There is no nvidia
stuff on my system so removing the nvidia driver maybe solves the
problem only for someone.
