Binary package hint: gnome-utils
Attempting to burn a 650MB fie onto blank CD.
Put CD in LG burner.
Launch Brasero.
Add desired file to the project list.
Enter a name for the disc.
Click Burn...
The details window pops up.
Click BURN.
Brasero crashes wtth a segment fault.

I was not trying to burn a video project. I was trying to burn a data disk
containing a single item (650 MB .dmg file).
My burner is a brand-new LG GH22NP20

LiveCD did not install Brasero, nor the Ubuntu Software Center (and I'm
brand new to this Linux world). Is it as simple as apt-get install brasero?

Two results to report.
1) You asked that I try to reproduce this bug with 10.04. My in-service
(MythTV) system was installed from Mythbuntu 10.04 LiveCD a couple weeks
ago. As such, Brasero was not installed. However, today I upgraded the
system to a full Ubuntu desktop using the Mythbuntu
FYI - others are reporting Brasero crashes with 10.10.
