Nope, EXT4 has nothing to do with it. I'm using ext4 since the 9.04 and
Rhythmbox wasn't crashing untill I upgraded to 9.10 via update-manger.
And as I wrote in bug, which seems to be closed as duplicate, for me
this happens on tracks with replay-gain info only.

rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV
Not sure if it's the same problem, but here is what I have: when
Rhythmbox starts playing a song with ReplayGain info (replaygain feature
is activated via gconf) it automatically mutes the sound. If I try to
increase it, Rhythmbox resets it to zero again and again and finally it
crashes.
