Hello Mathias, 1)I just did an update / upgrade on all packages ( 20060413-16:20 ), the results are unchanged. I deleted the printer, rebooted ( just to make sure there are no leftovers ) and created a new one with gnome-cups-manager. The test printouts for 600DPI as well as 300DPI look garbled

Hello Matthias, this will only happen, when CUPS is compiled from source and multiple language drivers ( 1 per language selected per printer included ) are generated. They all show up as "standard" through the gnome-cups-manager, while CUPS via localhost:631 shows them with language indices. A
