I also have the same problem, and for me it was was working on Lucid 64
bit Ubuntu Desktop edition. It stopped working with the 64 bit Maverick
beta.
Using a Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX laptop, no virtualized, just dual-booting
with Windows 7.
I did not do a clean install of Maverick, just a dist-
This is still affecting me and my system is up to date.

I too would like to be able to use the full functionality of Metacity. I
too don't understand why if someone was willing to make a patch, the
patch would be denied.
