I confirm this bug, which is probably a duplicate of bug #878993. This bug is extremely annoying, since not only file-roller gets frozen, but the entire desktop. The only workaround that I found was to press alt-f1 in order to get tty1, login, type "ps aux | grep file-roller" and kill the process
