This doesn't seem like it's getting any traction after 2 years and kdm
is not even shipped anymore so as reporter i'm closing this bug to have

I tend to agree with Paul that is fine for a word to have different
fonts, but on the other hand one can argue if the ":" in that situation
is part of the word or not.
I'd say 1 is a better solution but if you can get 2 with a "clean
enough" code i won't be oposed to it either.

I see this too, i.e., logout, login, then trash can is very likely
invisible. The applet is running (e.g., ps says it's running), in fact
right-clicking at a thin region where you expect it, its right-click
menu still shows up. So it's as though it has a very thin width.
I upgraded from 7.10, and
I can reproduce this both in LiveCD and in an installation upgraded from
7.10 and updated to the latest updates. Compiz on in both cases.
I use reiserfs. I will try ext3 later. (But if it happens in LiveCD it's
bad enough.)

I consistently see bonobo-activation-server not killed after *proper*
logout. Using:
hardy beta LiveCD
hardy beta fresh install, with or without updates.
hardy beta upgraded over gutsy, with or without updates.
