Ubuntu 20.04, with the same issue, sometimes a few disappear, sometimes all
icons disappear.
The installation was done through fresh install.

This bugg I've enctountered since 12.04 until 13.10 they're workarounds but
would be nice to be solved since it is there for a long long time.
I have encountered it on a HP 635 widh AMD 6310 integrated graphic card.
