Just to comment further, I have a remote home directory that I like to be able
to access from
my Ubuntu box. In particular I have an sshfs+autofs setup:
/etc/auto.master:
/autofs/sshfs/cs_student/home auto_home_sshfs -nobrowse
where auto_home_sshfs is a shell script in /etc :
#!/bin/b
This seems to be NO longer a problem for a system I recently installed
running on amd64 arch. So I guess the problem has resolved itself.

Just a note. This is on amd64 architecture. It's not clear whether this would
be a problem on another arch.

I did the following: Install dapper/server 6.06.1 i386 arch and then proceeded
to install kubuntu-d

Most likely it's same albeit #71924 is cluttered with other details.
I have not confirmed that it occurs on feisty and probably won't have
time to
confirm that in the near future due to time constraint
