Upstream GNOME/GTK developers are not responding for almost a year now although
a the code has been isolated.
KDE applications do well with drag and drop.
This is annoying.
Is there any workaround (besides using x11vnc as a server?)

I have the same bug, only there is nothing on my panel. I use the
weather applets, typing notification and mail monitor, but I used them
for several ubuntus now. Before karmic I never had this problem.

gateway on the device, openvpn seems pretty much to do the same.

Oddly enough this worked. I went into GRUB and tried the systemd-option
and this made the login screen work again.

When setting a higher scale factor in displaysettings (factor 2 for example)
only the thumbnails appear blurry.
But Nautilus seems to create bigger thumbnails: just zoom in nautilus with
strg++.
It would be nice when nautilus would use this higher resolved thumbs
