Whenever the location engine is started, though, the chipset driver wakes up

I have compiz enabled.
For me, CPU consumption begins right after executing nautilus, while
nautilus consumes approximately 25% to 40% of the cpu according to top.

I have noticed that ~/.cache/thumbnails only had permissions for the
root user. Plus, it just had a size of just 24kilobytes, which means it
did not really contain thumbnails.
The old directory entry was

drwx-- 1 root root 18 Jul 15 01:40 thumbnails
which came from 12.04 or before, I guess. I can't remember to have ever
touched this directory manually.

If this abort() arises during long-running tests, I would appreciate a
pointer to further information that will allow us to reproduce the
issue. I haven't seen it in quite some time and thus have difficulties
testing for it.

While location service or posclientd using a 100% CPU might worsen the
situation, I do not think that it is the gist of this bug.
In addition, the syslog pasted in #2 clearly shows that the trust and location
frameworks respond promptly:

ups. libdbusmenu-glib0 is available, but if i want to install it, then
the system wants to uninstall a lot of other stuff (eg gnome-sesstion,
nautilus, indicator-applet).
