Edit Locations on the Clock Applet.
In location name, start typing to get "Montreal, Quebec, Canada"
Timezone remains on "Unknown" and if you don't notice that, when you
click OK/hit enter, the add is silently failed.
So two errors:

Have the same problem. Also haven't been able to get any program to
successfully 'record' or use sound (eg skype).
Tapping on the microphone does play back through the speakers. But can't seem
to use the 'recording' anywhere else.
Was working in Hardy, no longer in Intrepid.
