Perhaps I was just too impatient previously... Totem-xine can play this file, and ffmpeg can process it too. Rhythmbox cannot play this file. The Desktop preview feature plays the file correctly. It seems as though the gstreamer plugin that detects the length of the audio in a .WAV file breaks wh

Ah-ha. Brasero does detect a CD-R correctly if you first burn a disk using Rhythmbox. It did the following: 1. booted up and logged on 2. inserted a blank CD-R 3. started Brasero: it gave its usual error about 0:00 min free on the CD-R 4. closed Brasero 5. opened Rhythmbox 6. burned a playlist to
