My wife is a musician; she uses a computer because she has too, for
email, writing program notes, etc. She does not just click around and
experiment on the computer, because she is afraid she might break
things, even though I have repeated explained that she cannot do any
permanent damage.

Same problem with Intrepid 32 bit: cannot burn a blank CD-R as Brasero

it is from Firefox...

Brasero calculates audio duration incorrectly

Perhaps I was just too impatient previously...
Totem-xine can play this file, and ffmpeg can process it too. Rhythmbox
cannot play this file. The Desktop preview feature plays the file
correctly.
It seems as though the gstreamer plugin that detects the length of the
audio in a .WAV file breaks wh
I have a similar problem trying to select a range of files in a

Ah-ha. Brasero does detect a CD-R correctly if you first burn a disk
using Rhythmbox.
It did the following:
1. booted up and logged on
2. inserted a blank CD-R
3. started Brasero: it gave its usual error about 0:00 min free on the CD-R
4. closed Brasero
5. opened Rhythmbox
6. burned a playlist to

I have this behaviour too. In Hardy, Nautilus did not mount the PTP
device so gThumb could read the camera correctly. In Intrepid, Nautilus
does mount the PTP device, so both gThumb and f-spot cannot access the
camera.
This is also documented in

The workaround (changing scale to 100%) works for me -- almost
permanently.
If I select 'File > Print Preview', the preview looks good. However,
selecting 'File > Print' after that, the scale has changed back to 1%.
Changing 'File > Page Setup' does not affect the scale.

You could always suggest that Evolution is not conforming to RFC-1123
