This has effected me and it is reproducible in the current machine setup I have
ie. there is no accessible HDD memory. So the keyring information is not kept
and I can reproduce the error upon reopening Empathy after start up under

I can confirm that this bug is absolutely genuine and reproducible.
This is purely speculation but could this be a synchronisation problem
between nautilus and gvfs? Selecting a link in the "Computer" menu
should result in the volume first being mounted and then being opened in
a nautilus window.

- I just finished downloading the full version of Ubuntu 8.10. When I go
- to "Places" in the main panel, and click on any of the following: Home
- Folder, Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, or Videos...I am
- immediately directed to Movie Player...NOT a file browser as

Luckily I created a backup image and restored back to the default state.
I will not run updates again, because I can't pinpoint what part of the update
package is the problem.

I have never had this issue before but am now experiencing it using
Karmic Beta (9.10). I cannot watch a movie using VLC without moving the

I am in the situation of having multiple documents in a folder of
varying types. I quite often have duplicate documents in odt, pdf and
ms doc format with identical filenames apart from the extension.

the backtrace (attached) looks very similar. I've just tried this with a
fresh user, same crash every time. My locale is LANG=en_IE.UTF-8. Trying
with LANG=C made no difference.

Found the issue, here's a patch that fixes it. It's been a while since i
last did gtk programming, so it may not be the cleanest way to handle
this. Disabling the menu entry (and keyboard shortcut) until there is
something to save would probably be best.

1. Start sound-recorder
2. Click 'record'
3. After a few seconds, click 'stop'

I had to reboot my laptop and for a while there seemed no problem the
flood of Malicious data in the system log - then suddenly it started
again at the rate of 17,000 lines per hour.
The Bluetooth device is part of the Intel AC1365 combo unit.

Sebastien, thx - I've uploaded hopefully the stuff you suggested.
Initially I tried using the "Print Screen" button - but as soon as I
pressed it, the desktop screen fixed itself! :-(

Thanks Daniel, yes I meant a crash, just different wording.
OK Attached is the file with all extensions disabled. If I'm reading the
file correctly it seems to be a snap issue with an app not autostarting?
Anyway lots of errors but when I scrolled down to the bottom showing the
most recent boot up
