Hidden files are never shown on the desktop. Even when i enable "Show
hidden and backup files" in Nautilus > Preferences only regular folders
and files are shown there.
When i browse the "Desktop" folder in Nautilus directly all hidden files

Yes, a clickable button is missing. Typing "^" does not work, at least
not for me. I use the german default keyboard layout and need to press
the circumflex button twice to get a single "^" sign printed (that works
in all other applications). Pressing this button once, twice or even
more in gcalct
No, the keyboard fix is a different thing. In my opinion a clickable
button should be there anyway. Such a button exists in the "scientific"
view although one could use the keyboard there as well.

I confirm this bug. For me it happend with the Hardy RC as well as with
a perfectly fresh installation of the final Hardy Heron. In every case
it seems to happen only the first time you open that preferences window.

I have two computers, both on gutsy with Compiz effects enabled and they
both suffer from this problem in nautlius and synaptic packet manager.
It's really quite annoying because the vertical scrollbar on the right
is 3-5px slimmer than usual. The screen resolution doesn't seem to have
