Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager
I'm using a Dell Mini 9. Ever since upgrading to Karmic after suspending

close my laptop lid, when I close the lid and open it again I get the
same issue you have. My bug only occurs when fglrx is installed.

I downgraded to Catalyst 7.11 and the problem is gone. It's clear that
its a problem with the ATI drivers, but it may be worth making sure that
this bug disappears in future versions.

I'm seeing the same thing. I'm wondering if it's a result of whatever

I think gnome-main-menu uses network-manager to check network status.

I don't think this is fixed, unless there is a new version that hasn't
come through the update channels yet. If this is the case, please let me
know how to get the fixed version.
