steps to reproduce
1) In gdm i'm press on my user name
2) then press button with accessibility options on bottom panel
3) dont change anything options and press close button in accessibility window
4) cannot enter pa
i too have this bug in ubuntu 9.10 alpha 4 (i386)

for example:
video1: 608 x 352, XVID MPEG-4, 30 frames per second, 1.4G
video2: 720 x 296, XVID MPEG-4, 24 frames per second, 1.2G
on the screeshot you can see how the same video play totem and vlc
