For this case, I printed a PDF once successfully (technically speaking)
but I realized print margins were wrong. Then I changed them from
Printer Properties > Job Options. Then I tried to print

gedit. As stated if gksudo gksudo gedit is run, it doesn't create the empty
document. Therefore, adding this:

the alt-r key does not trigger for me the HUD. So I reprogrammed my
keyboard alt-l to be alt-r as well.

After a little more digging I found that the OS considers the volume
down button to be XF86AudioStop and the volume up button to be
XF86AudioRewind. Reassigning the keys in keyboard prefferences works to
solve the problem, but due to the redundant mapping loses the stop
hotkey

In Ubuntu 9.04, Evince displayed PDFs quite well.
Now in Ubuntu 9.10, Evince displays the PDF objects really jagged and
crappy looking. I've attached a PNG showing an example.
I'm running Evince 2.28.1.
