There were some thread-related problems in one temporary version in
e-d-s that should be ok now, and since there's been no activity on this
bug for 4 months now, I think this can be closed. If anyone can

the gnome-region-panel.desktop includes the OnlyshowIn=GNOME;, so that,
on Unity we show the language selector. But yes, thus we miss the layout
selection, so maybe we want to include that in language-selector? as a
workaround, you can add Unity; to the OnlyShowIn value, so that it's

The design for the theme selection explicitly limited the selection to
the 4 themes we show, so I guess we don't want the 'custom' thing you
mention, but at least I've fixed the patch in our package to not change
the icon theme unless the user really selects one from the combo box.

After reverting to "no proxy" /sys
As with the banshee bug (which I just uploaded a fix for), this needs
changes in the applications, not gnome-control-center. We have stopped
using some of the keys, so their values are not changed in GSettings and
hence not propagated to GConf. Those apps should really check the host
for socks, and

Martin, my plan was to fix the issues that that patch tries to solve in
g-c-c 3.2.1 and then completely remove this patch from the package. I
could just fix a couple, since the others seemed a bit risky for a SRU,
so the patch from Gunnar fixes this bug really for Oneiric users. There
shouldn't be

I guess it won't harm at all to just have it checked by default for
files.
Also, in your patch, the 2nd gtk_toggle_button_set_active is redundant,
since it's already set to FALSE when creating the check button
