Repro:
ssh into an HPUX box and run vim
When you enter Insert mode the some characters will be displayed on top of the
cursor: '[?25I ' and these characters _appear_ highlighted. The second
character '[' ap

Tried the test with putty and xterm - both work fine

I don't know, I haven't installed Karmic with gnome.

This was driving me nuts until I found out about this 'mousekeys' thing
