the fact that such a bug is still unassigned bothers me to no end. I've
switched to vlc for now, since totem is completely unusable for me.

as a workaround, I made vlc the main video player for now. but I prefer

totem freezes after changing/disa

this bug is reproducible every time. I just need to open an mp4 video
file with a subtitle file in the same folder. then the subtitle shows
and the video plays ok. then if I try to disable the subtitle, totem
freezes, and I have to close it by force.

this issue has been fixed by recent updates. I guess it got fixed by the
updates to the xserver packages but I'm not really sure.
