I can confirm this bug in Jaunty.
I cannot format floppies that have been erased by a magnet.
setfdprm -p /dev/fd0 1440/1440 does fix the problem, but it must by
done on every floppy that is inserted.

When I connect it in 8.10, Ubuntu asks if I want to open Rhythmbox.
Rhythmbox does not show it as a device.
I have tested it on 2 running 8.10 64 bit. I will test it on a 32 bit
machine when I get home and submit the results.
