Hi cdir,
Are you referring to updating cdrdao 1.2.2 to cdrdao 1.2.3? Beacause on
my lucid with cdrdao 1.2.2 brasero can produce images of all cd/dvd
media types but can not burn them, (been using cdrecord in a terminal
for that).

I had tried just cdrdao_1.2.3 which worsened things (see post 48) and
reverted back to cdrdao_1.2.2.
I temporarily enabled system->administration->software sources->updates
tab Proposed updates (Lucid updates)

My box is making me wonder if the boot sequence order is just starting
gnome-power-manager at just the wrong moment.

last couple of hours it appears that one of my drives that is connected
via eSATA might be faulty. Until last week when I purchased a new 640GB
I was using it (WD 500GB ext4) as my desktop drive and prior to that as

Can you try switching DRI off.
You can download the attached Xorg.conf file and put in in /etc/X11.
Then log off and back on again.
If the server works with DRI switched off, then that is this bug. If it
doesn't you'll need to log another one with 'ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-
video-ati' as it may be
Last versions I can confirm were working are:
xserver-xorg: 1:7.4+3ubuntu5
libgl1-mesa-glx: 7.5-1ubuntu1
xserver-xorg-video-ati: 1:6.12.99+git20090629.f39cafc5-0ubuntu1
xserver-xorg-video-intel: 2.2.8.0-0ubuntu1
(I didn't download Alpha 4, but it was working with those versions as
well).

Downgrading libgl1-mesa-dri to version 7.5-1ubuntu1 fixes the problem.
So the regression lies with the mesa package.
